Basic First Aid Training for Schools

You can take advantage of your inset days by providing a short first aid  training course, delivered at your school.

The training course is a general introduction to first aid for teachers and support staff. this training course will deal specifically with child first aid.

This training course does not replace the need for the requirement for the appropriate numbers of HSE First Aid at work and Emergency First Aid at Work trained staff.

The training course includes:

• assessing and prioritising a first aid incident
• managing an unconscious casualty
• choking
• resuscitation
• management of severe bleeding
• management of shock
• recognising and treating a range of common injuries
• maintaining first aid records and first aid kits
